Cozumel, Mexico

I took the photo of the building while we were in a boat, headed to the south side of the Isle to go snorkeling. The boat we were in had windows in the bottom of it, so we could the bottom see as we passed over different things and areas; the reef/wildlife, Mayan ruins, structures that fell from the hurricane. The water is crystal clear hundreds of feet down, not to mention an amazing color of blue, so you can see everything. Snorkeling was fun, we seen a lobster (which I guess is very rare) and we even got to hand-feed a huge school of fish. All in all it was a great experience, other than being unexpectedly kissed by the tour guide. Hazard of appearing to be a single female, I guess.

This is where we stayed for the week. Dreams, Cancun. I’m not ready to be back. Espeicially in 39 degree rainy weather, when it’s been at least 75 degrees for the overnight low all week.

But I’m going to go unpack now…

A Slight Obsession

Filed under: all photos, canal park, lake superior — Pete @ 3:02 pm

The photos are a crop of the picture from the other day. I thought the water was really cool (okay, so I’m a little obsessed). The first picture here is the original, the other two were photoshopped to change the white balance…the red-tinted one is my favorite.

Facing The Hill

I went out to take sunrise pictures, except the sunrise was boring, so…I was standing in Canal Park, down on the pier, and there were huge waves crashing against the rocks. I just stood there watching them, with the city lights all still on, and I found my picture. I closed the aperture on the camera, and used the longest exposure I could. Doing that gave the water a really cool effect; it smoothed it out. The white/lighter color against the rocks and near shore is actually where the waves were whitecapping and crashing.

I hope your Easter went well. Occasionally having an excuse to get together as a family and eat is nice. And everyone stayed pretty well behaved at my place this year (they’re not always). Now I just have to find the motivation to clean my apartment. Making dinner for a dozen people, and cleaning up after them, is A LOT of work. I thought the two hour nap I just took might help me find some motivation, but it hasn’t. So if you’re feeling bored, I have a kitchen full of dishes you can come do…

I haven’t been out to take new pictures, although I know there are some, somewhere, I was going to post. Oh well. I’ll find them eventually. This one is from the end of March.

Saturday I’m going to Cancun, Mexico. I’ll be gone for a week, so if not sooner, there will new pictures when I get back.

I took this shot at the same place as this one. Which is the same shot as this one…. I don’t know which is my favorite.

Ore Docks, At Night

I think the docks will always remind me of the summer night, years ago, when a friend and I walked along the railroad tracks down there…yes, tresspassing. There was a full moon and a ship docked, and it was absolutely amazing. Hopefully sometime this summer I’ll make it back down there when there’s at least a ship docked.
