Shitbag.

Larry A Szewcik is registered sex offender. Looking in CCAP (Wisconsin Circuit Court Access), you can see that on 7-2-96 he was arrested for 1st Degree Sexual Assault of Child (Felony B), Child Enticement-Sexual Contact (Felony C), and False Imprisonment (Felony E). He was convicted on all three charges and sent to prison for 10 years.

Larry has also been convicted of drug charges and several Criminal Trespass to Dwelling charges (aka he breaks into people’s homes).

So he serves a 10-year prison sentence, just recently got out. Sept. 22, 2007 he’s arrested and charged with 4th Degree Sexual Assault (Misd. A), Criminal Trespass to Dwelling (Misd. A), and 3rd Degree Sexual Assault (Felony G). He walked into a woman’s house, climbed in bed with her, and started touching her and trying to have sex with her (local paper story here).

Of course, he’s presumed innocent until proven guilty, blah, blah, blah…So what he allegedly did. If I were you, and I lived in this area, I’d at least check out his registry picture. At least then you’ll know who to watch out for. He’s was prison for 10 years and is barely out when he breaks into someone’s house and sexually assaults them. I’m going to go ahead and guess this won’t be his last victim.

There were so many wasps on this specific group of flowers…

(And Andrew added a comment feed for me and re-arranged my sidebar so my links are closer to the top of the page. Yea!)

Fun On the Radio

Filed under: General, work (911) — Pete @ 4:36 am

According to FEMA, we can no longer use 10-codes, we have to use “plain language”. The deputies book on over the air, usually with a “10-41″. Now we get things like “game on!”, or instead of “10-42″ there’s “I’ve had enough!”. And even though we can’t use 10-codes, we’re still supposed to learn the APCO 10-codes …just in case (or something, I really don’t know). And, not that it’s exactly relevant, but they also renamed all of the radio channels and added a few more. And we’re supposed to keep it all strait…

Then there’s the phonetic spelling of names, usually letter by letter. Occasionally not though. My favorites? “Horton, as in Hears a Who” and “Miller, like the beer”. Or running a plate, “george- ocean- tom- sam- union- mary” *slight pause* “thaaaat’s, got-some” (seriously, since when can your license plate be “got some” anyways??)

There’s also the mispronunciation of words…for the record, “quichee street” is pronounced “key-chee”, not “coochie”. I think I almost died when my trainee put that one out. Then, the officer when he cleared, says, “I’m going to be clear of coochie street…” I couldn’t even 10-4 him.

Which, I’m not sure, may not be quite as embarrassing as a female officer saying, “a black …cock!” instead of saying “a black truck“.

And if you’re going to be behind one of the gay bars, it’s a necessity to word it as being “in the rear of”.

This is why people have scanners. Entertainment.

These bricks lie under a flag and the sun was hitting them just right. This is one of my favorites.

Two weeks ago I turned our heat on, it was below 40 degrees in the middle of the afternoon and I was so frickin’ cold I had to. Yesterday? It was over 80 degrees outside. And today is the same…Weather in Northern Minnesota is awesome.

Crime Index

Filed under: General, work (911) — Pete @ 3:47 am

David Menton was “out of control” at a bar here in Douglas County and caused over $13,000 worth of damage. He punched out a plate glass window (which he later had to have over 40 stitches for), sprayed glass in someone’s eye (who had to have eye surgery to repair a laceration to her cornea), was fighting with people, ran from the sheriff’s department (or “fled the scene”)…The paper reports he’s been convicted of “numerous” alcohol-related ordinance violations, and three misdemeanor offenses. He was also jailed a few years back for shooting and killing his father (in self-defense).

Now he’s out on $200 bail.

I don’t know. That just doesn’t seem right to me.

Completely unrelated, I’m sure, to our harsh penalties on criminals, Superior has the third highest crime index in the state. That’s the average crimes per 10,000 population. Our index is about 200 over the state average. Superior? 590. The state average? 393. The national average? 490. Go Dan Blank! …He’s our district attorney, by the way, the one that drops all these charges…I mean, imposes reasonable sentences on criminals to deter further criminal activity.
